ਸਧਾਰਨ ਔਰਤ ਲਈ ਪਰੰਪਰਾ ਦੀ ਵਲਗਣ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ, ਘਰ ਦੀ ਦੇਹਲੀ ਉਲੰਘਣੀ ਵੀ ਔਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮਨਿੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਚੇਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਸੀ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਬਿੰਬ ਉਸਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਰੇਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ, ਦੁਸ਼ਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੂਝਦੀ ਹੋਈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਪਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ‘ਤੇ ਪੈਰ ਧਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਿਣੀਆਂ ਮਿਥੀਆਂ ਸਾਜਿਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਟਦੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਹੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਚੁਣਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਜ਼ਬਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਗਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਧੁਖਦੀ ਇਸ ਕਵਿਤਾ ‘ਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿੰਗਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਟਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਲੀਆਂ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਦਨਿੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਥਲੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਲਈ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਆਖਦੀ ਹਾਂ |

ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਪੁਸਤਕ ‘ਵਿਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ’ ਮਹਿਜ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਨਿਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਿਬੰਧ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਹ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਇਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜ਼-ਤਰਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਹਨ ਹੀ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਬਾਹਰਮੁਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਸਮਝ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਸਹਿਜ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਰੂਪ ਅਖ਼ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੰਘਾਲਣਾ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਵੱਲ ਤੋਰਨਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਸੂਖ਼ਮਤਾ, ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੈਟਾ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਨਿਬੰਧਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਜਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਉੱਪਰ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਮਹਿਜ਼ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਤ ਜਾਂ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਮਾਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਾਜਕ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੀਕਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਬੰਧਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋਏ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਧੁਰ ਡੂੰਘ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਰਜਸ਼ੀਲ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਅੰਤਰ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਖੇੜਾ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਵਿਵੇਕ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਇਕ ਨਵੇਂ ਪੜਾਅ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ

ਖੜਗ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਵਾਰਤਕ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵੀਹਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਧ ਦੇ ਆਰ-ਪਾਰ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੇਖ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਰਿਸਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇੰਜੀ, ਕਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੰਭਾਲੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਰ ਲੇਖ ਦੇ ਥੱਲੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਛਪਣ ਦੀ ਤਰੀਕ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੜਗ ਹੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਦ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਰਤਕ ਰੂਪਾਂ ‘ਚ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕੀਆਂ।ਇੰਝ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਆਲੋਚਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਮਾਧਿਅਮ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਰੂਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਅਧੀਨ ਛਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੜਗ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸੀਮਤ ਜਿਹੇ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਰਚਿਆ।
